Win: I am all setup in our new place

It took me a while to get setup in our new place and get back to the blog but it was not for no reason.

If you move have a plan!

Key Learnings:

  • Research is your best friend

  • Budget more than you think you'll need

  • Expect the unexpected

Packing Issues

If you've never played a real-life game of Tetris with your entire life's possessions, you're missing out! Pro tip: Label EVERYTHING. And I mean everything. Future you will thank present you.

Things you’ll need:

  • Lots of bubble wrap

  • Industrial-strength tape

  • Whiskey (for you, not the boxes)

  • moving company (do this instead of doing it yourself. it may cost more but super worth it)

The Move

The actual move is like a bizarre road trip mixed with an emotional rollercoaster. One moment you're excited about the adventure, the next you’re pissed off at 3am caught up in traffic that spawned out of nowhere like a shiny Pokemon.

The Trip:

  • Audiobooks are a lifesaver

  • Have some music ready that you like

  • If you are traveling with a companion, obviously talk to them

  • Rest stops are your new best friends

  • Snacks are non-negotiable

The New City

Settling in is both terrifying and exhilarating. Everything is new - the grocery stores, the coffee shops, the entire vibe of the city. Enjoy the little moments, for me I joined a Jiu Jitsu gym out here its pretty fun.

Survival Strategies:

  • Join local groups, could be from your career path or not

  • Go learn the new city and meet people

  • Be open to new experiences
